Q: Wow, this is project is really cool! How can I get involved?
A: We’d love for you to apply for a position on the team! Team member applications will become available in late January 2009. We’ll be hiring six team members. Please subscribe to our blog (see above) to get notifications about the application when it is posted.
Q: Who runs this project?
A: The 2007 podcasts were managed and produced by Jen Cardew. The project enjoys continued sponsorship from the Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) and the University of North Texas (UNT). The 2008 podcast project was also sponsored by StickerGiant.com.
Q: Which sessions are recorded at the Annual Meeting & how were they selected?
A: Over 15 sessions were recorded in 2008, featuring over 90 speakers. They were selected based on their broad appeal and to represent a diversity of topics. Suggestions were solicited from several anthropology departments, our blog readers, & the SfAA Office. If you’d like to have your session included in the 2009 podcasts you must contact Jen Cardew in January 2009- please subscribe to our blog to receive a notice when we start to solicit suggestions.
Q: How are the podcasts funded?
A: The podcast project is currently seeking funding. Our goal is to create a self-sustaining financial structure which will allow us to pay the many team members that it takes to record over 90 speakers. This year, resources were provided by the University of North Texas, SfAA, Sticker Giant, and Jen Cardew, but team members volunteered their time.
